No problem. Anyone can add articles, categories for templates to Wikidata. According to category is there any "main" category here? Eurohunter (yeewtu) 23:35, 31 Siilo 2025 (UTC)Reply

Namespace translations

[taƴto ɗaɗi wiki]

@Adamu mc Hello! I am working on adding namespace translations to MediaWiki core for Fulah language: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T391725. I want some help with namespace translations before proceeding further. Could you or someone in your language community provide me with namespace translations for the words in the table below into Fulah?

See the explanations here:

  1. translatewiki:Translating:MediaWiki#Translating namespace names
  2. translatewiki:Translating:MediaWiki/Basic glossary

@Fulani215 Hello! thanks you so much for your response! I have a few doubts. For Gadget and Category, if I try to translate these words in Google Translate, I get "Gajet" and "Geeɓe". Could you verify what the correct translation would be? Also, for User, I don't see the translation in your list. With Google Translate, I get "Huutortooɗo". Could you confirm if this is the right translation? Thank you! SSethi (WMF) (yeewtu) 18:14, 16 Duujal 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much

Concerning your question, i want to tell you that some word in Fula Language varies, for instance the Fula of Gambia or Burkina Faso and that of Nigeria varies in some word and pronunciation.

Back to the question or clarification you ask I suggest you should use “Geebe” because the word is more popular and on User you can use “Huutortoodo” or “Huutodo,en”

If you need any clarification don’t hesitate to contact me Fulani215 (yeewtu) 20:29, 16 Duujal 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks you! I will proceed with " Huutortoodo" for User and " Geebe" for Category. What about Gadget? SSethi (WMF) (yeewtu) 21:26, 16 Duujal 2025 (UTC)Reply
You can use “Newruu” on Gadgets Fulani215 (yeewtu) 21:28, 16 Duujal 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi! Thanks for these suggestions! So I shared the namespace translations you provided with my colleague and as per their feedback translations for Special, Talk, User, File, Template, Help and Category are inconsistent with the translations for words in Translatewiki.net: https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special%3ATranslate&group=mediawiki&language=ff&filter=translated&optional=1&action=page&uselang=ff. For example for Category, it is "fedde", "pelle", or "fannuji". For talk it is: Yeewtere. For template it is: tiimtorde. For file it is: fiilde. For help it is: Ballal. Just a small note for future replies - you’re welcome to respond within this thread itself instead of starting a new feedback topic. SSethi (WMF) (yeewtu) 23:09, 19 Duujal 2025 (UTC)Reply
Adding this here for the record: In a virtual meeting, @Fulani215 and I finalized the following namespace translations:
Media: Jolde kabaroji
Special: Nde asalul
Talk:Yeewtere
User: Denafuda
User talk: Yeewtere_denafuda
Wikipedia talk: Yeewtere_$1
File: finnde
File talk: Yeewtere_finnde
MediaWiki: MediaWiki
MediaWiki talk: Yeewtere_MediaWiki
Template: Tiimtorde
Template talk: Yeewtere_tiimtorde
Help: Ballitol
Help talk: Yeewtere_ballitol
Category: Jadde
Category talk: Yeewtere_jadde
As @Fulani215 shared the earlier translations on translatewiki.net reflect the Burkina Faso dialect. The versions above are more accurate and consistent for our current use. SSethi (WMF) (yeewtu) 23:47, 24 Morso 2025 (UTC)Reply
