[taƴto ɗaɗi wiki]

Hi. sorry to bother you but I would like to ask you whether you could please translate this to Hausa?

Lingua Franca Nova (“Elefen”) is a language designed to be particularly simple, consistent, and easy to learn for international communications. It has a number of positive qualities:
1. It has a limited number of phonemes. It sounds similar to Italian or Spanish.
2. It is phonetically spelled. No child should have to spend years learning irregularities.
3. It has a completely regular grammar, similar to the world’s creoles.
4. It has a limited and completely regular set of productive affixes for routine word derivation.
5. It has well-defined rules for word order, in keeping with many major languages.
6. Its vocabulary is strongly rooted in modern Romance languages. These languages are themselves widespread and influential, plus they have contributed the major part of English vocabulary
7. It is designed to be naturally accepting of Latin and Greek technical neologisms, the de facto “world standard”.
8. It is designed to seem relatively “natural” to those who are familiar with Romance languages, without being any more difficult for others to learn.
We hope you like Elefen!

Thanks for your help. --Caro de Segeda (yeewtu) 08:40, 21 Korse 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mass machine translations

[taƴto ɗaɗi wiki]

Good morning, I have noticed that since the beginning of this year, masses of pages have been created in this project with only copy&paste machine translations, without checking the translations or checking what is being copied. See https://ff.wikiscan.org/. The pages often have wrong titles and also the content is not correct, often "[1], [2]" from the original references are present, but the references are not available, because the pages are just mass copies of some pages that were translated by google translate without verification.

Join the 6th Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos Campaign – 2025 Edition

[taƴto ɗaɗi wiki]

Dear Wikimedia affiliate community leader,

Thanks for organizing the previous editions of the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos Campaign in your community. We invite your community again to participate in the 6th edition of the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos Campaign, a global campaign taking place from July 1 to August 31, 2025.

Participants will choose among Wikipedia pages without photos, then add a suitable photo from among the many thousands of photos in the Wikimedia Commons, especially those uploaded from thematic contests (Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Folklore, Wiki Loves Monuments, etc.) over the years.

More than 80 Wikimedia affiliates have participated since the campaign was launched in 2020 and have added images to more than 400,000 Wikipedia articles in over 245 Wikipedia languages. Thanks to the volunteer contributors!

We now invite your affiliate to organize and lead the campaign within your community. As a local organizer, you may:

  • Encourage individual members to take part by adding images to Wikipedia articles.
  • Host edit-a-thons focused on improving visual content.
  • Organize training workshops to teach contributors how to correctly integrate images into Wikipedia.

These activities will help build local capacity and increase visual content across Wikipedia.

Please note that for participants to be eligible to participate in the campaign, they need to have registered an account for at least a year before the official start date of the contest. That is, for the 2025 edition, they must have registered an account on or before July 1, 2025. The account can be from any Wikimedia project wikis.

The organizing team is looking for a contact person to coordinate WPWP participation at the Wikimedia user group or chapter level (geographically or thematically) or for a language Wikipedia.

We would be glad for you to sign up directly at WPWP Participating Communities.

With kind regards,

Invitation to Organize Feminism and Folklore 2026

Dear Wikimedian,

We thank you for taking an initiative to organize the Feminism and Folklore 2026 writing competition on your local Wikipedia.

The international campaign will run from 1 February to 31 March 2026 and aims to improve coverage of feminism, women’s histories, gender-related topics, and folk culture across Wikipedia projects.

About the Campaign

Feminism and Folklore is a global writing initiative that complements the Wiki Loves Folklore photography competition. While Wiki Loves Folklore focuses on visual documentation, this writing campaign addresses the gender gap on Wikipedia by improving encyclopedic content related to folk culture and marginalized voices.

What Can Participants Write About?

Communities can contribute by creating, expanding, or translating articles related to:

  • Folk festivals, rituals, and celebrations
  • Folk dances, music, and traditional performances
  • Women and queer figures in folklore
  • Women in mythology and oral traditions
  • Women warriors, witches, and witch-hunting narratives
  • Fairy tales, folk stories, and legends
  • Folk games, sports, and cultural practices

Participants may work from curated article lists or generate new article suggestions using campaign tools.

Checklist for Organizers

Organizers are requested to complete the following steps to register their community:

  1. Create a local project page on your wiki (see sample)
  2. Set up the campaign using the CampWiz tool
  3. Prepare a local article list and clearly mention:
    • Campaign timeline
    • Local and international prizes
  4. Request a site notice from local administrators (see sample)
  5. Add your local project page and CampWiz link to the Meta project page
Campaign Tools

The Wiki Loves Folklore Tech Team has introduced tools to support organizers and participants:

  • Article List Generator by Topic – Helps identify articles available on English Wikipedia but missing in your local language Wikipedia. The tool allows customized filters and provides downloadable article lists in CSV and wikitable formats.
  • CampWiz – Enables communities to manage writing campaigns effectively, including jury-based evaluation. This will be the third year CampWiz is officially used for Feminism and Folklore.

Both tools are now available for use in the campaign. Click here to access the tools

Block review request

[taƴto ɗaɗi wiki]

Hi! Could I ask for your review of the block on Adamu ab placed by a global sysop roughly a year ago? If you do not think their contributions necessitate the block, I'd recommend removing it.

The short version on my end is that Adamu ab created a new account, Adamu mc, after their account was blocked and subsequently locked. I identified this yesterday and globally blocked the new account as evading the blocks on the old account. However, reviewing their edits, I don't think they're actually connected to AhmedMustafaaaa. If their contributions to this wiki do not warrant a block, removing their previous account's block would be useful. Thanks for your time, and let me know if I should send this request elsewhere. Best, Vermont (yeewtu) 19:07, 16 Mbooy 2026 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate your effort in looking into the block placed on the Adamu ab account and for noting that the connection with the AhmedMustafaaaa account may not be accurate. I also acknowledge that creating the Adamu mc account happened after the original account was blocked and locked.
Going forward, I understand that the appropriate process is to follow the standard appeal procedures rather than creating a new account. I sincerely appreciate your willingness to review the case and your time in helping clarify the situation.
Thank you again for your support and consideration. Fulani215 (yeewtu) 20:33, 16 Mbooy 2026 (UTC)Reply

Dear Organizer,

I hope this message finds you well.

First and foremost, on behalf of the International Team I want to extend my gratitude to you for your efforts in organizing the Feminism and Folklore 2026 campaign on your local Wikipedia. Your contribution has been instrumental in bridging the gender and folk gap on Wikipedia, and we truly appreciate your dedication to this important cause.

As the campaign has ended I wanted to inform you about the next steps. It's time to commence the jury process using the CampWiz or Fountain tool where your campaign was hosted. Please ensure that you update the details of the jury, campaign links and the names of organizers accurately on the sign-up page.

Once the jury process is completed, kindly update only the top 3 winners details on the results page accordingly. The deadline for jury submission of results is April 30, 2026. However, if you find that the number of articles is high and you require more time, please don't hesitate to inform us via email or on campaign Meta Wiki talk page. We are more than willing to approve an extension if needed.

Should you encounter any issues with the tools, please feel free to reach out to us on Telegram for assistance.

Your feedback and progress updates are crucial for us to improve the campaign and better understand your community's insights. Therefore, we kindly ask you to spare just an hour to collectively share your progress and achievements with us during our community feedback session. Your input will greatly assist us in making the campaign more meaningful and impactful.

Thank you once again for your hard work and dedication to the Feminism and Folklore campaign. Your efforts are deeply appreciated, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Warm regards,

Tiven2240

Voting takes place privately in SecurePoll, successful candidates must receive at least 60% support. More information is available on the 2026 Elections page, including timelines and other candidacy information.
